Supporting Covid-19 Control, PRPP Wins the PWI Tuban Award 2021
Tuban, March 17, 2021 – PT Pertamina Rosneft Pengolahan dan Petrokimia (PRPP) won PWI Tuban Award 2021 for companies concerned with handling Covid-19 and supporting public information disclosure category. This award was handed over directly by Ainur Rochim as Chairman of Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) East Java at Krido Manunggal Pavilion in a series of events to commemorate National Press Day 2021 on Wednesday (17/3) with the theme of Economic Recovery in the Midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Ainur conveyed the importance of the role of mass media for society. "The information on social media is not confirmed, so the media needs to be present in the community to shine and educate," he said.
The same thing was revealed by Pipit Wibawanto, Chairman of PWI Tuban. "In the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, we hope that the media can become a candle that becomes a lamp when it is in turmoil. The mass media must always campaign for positive news that is very necessary for the public when there is a lot of fake news that continues to circulate on social media," Pipit said.
Meanwhile, Tuban Deputy Regent Noor Nahar in his speech reminded the dangers of hoax news that can cause social impacts in the community and also have a psychological impact on those who are the object of hoaxes. "I hope that the mainstream media can educate the public to be able to use social media wisely," he said.
On a separate occasion, the President Director of PRPP, Kadek Ambara Jaya, expressed his gratitude for this award. "Thank you for the award given. It is an honor for PRPP who is only 4 years old. Of course, this provides greater motivation for us in getting closer to all stakeholders in Tuban, including the community through the Covid-19 mitigation program and also establishing good partnerships with the media," he said.
In addition to PRPP, other Pertamina Group companies also received the same award, namely Pertamina MOR V, PT Pertamina EP, and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tuban East Java.
As stipulated in the Press Law Number 40 of 1999, the press functions to provide information and education to the public. The role of the press is also crucial to report on the development of national strategic projects currently being worked on by PRPP through the construction of the Grass Root Refinery (GRR) in Tuban.
The peak of the National Press Day commemoration in Tuban was also attended by Tuban Police Chief, District Military Command 0811, Chairman of Tuban Provincial Legislatives Council. This event was also filled with public lectures presenting Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Professor Universitas Brawijaya Prof. Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak, senior economist who is also a former Coordinating Minister for Economic, Financial and Industrial Affairs.
