Pertamina Rosneft Distributes Aid to 295 Students (Santri) in Tuban
Tuban, 26th April 2021 — Filling the holy month of Ramadan, PT Pertamina Rosneft Pengolahan dan Petrokimia (PRPP) provided assistance to several Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren) in Tuban as part of its corporate social responsibility commitment, especially for moral and religious education. The provision of assistance is intended for 295 students (santriwan/santriwati) at three Islamic boarding schools, namely Al-Husain Islamic Boarding School, Qolbin Salim Islamic Boarding School, and Mansyaul Huda 02 Islamic Borading School. The handover, which is a series of the 1422 H Ramadan Safari program, was carried out on April 8 and 9.
PRPP Corporate Affairs Yuli Wahyu Witantra explained that the donation was a form of the company's concern in the education sector to local communities that living around Grass Root Refinery (GRR) Tuban project. "We hope that the handover of assistance to these 295 students (santri) can be utilized and enjoyed during the education period. We also hope that the struggle to realize energy independence will be given fluency and blessings," said Yuli.
The Company considers that Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) needs support given its important position as a moral and scientific educational institution equivalent to formal education. Pesantren is also a means of economic empowerment of the people, with the number of students reaching 18.49 million throughout Indonesia. This is in accordance with the vision of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who supports the development of indonesian islamic boarding schools, by establishing October 22 as National Santri Day. Quoting from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the government is committed to supporting Islamic Boarding School by providing assistance worth IDR 2.6 trillion to 209,449 ponpes from 2020 to 2024.
Pertamina Rosneft is the implementer of the Tuban GRR project which was established on an area of 1,050 hectares with details of 821 hectares of land and the rest of the marine reclamation land. The company is currently conducting a detailed design (Front End Engineering Design / FEED) with Spanish Tecnicas Reunidas SA which is targeted to be completed in the next 12 months. The refinery, which is included in the National Strategic Project (PSN), is targeted to operate in 2026. Employment is estimated to be approximately 27,000 people at the time of project construction and 2,500 workers after the project is operational. (*)
