Organizing Islamic Quiz Competition, PRPP Encourages the Development of Religious Education Among Youth

Tuban, March 24, 2025 – It is undeniable that the development of industrialization in Tuban Regency, while bringing benefits, also comes with consequences that need attention. Industrialization has introduced new cultures which, if not properly mitigated, can affect the Islamic values that are deeply rooted in the people of Tuban Regency—an area long known as Bumi Wali (Land of Saints) and one of the centers of Islamic propagation in Java.

Realizing this, during Ramadan 1446 H or 2025, under the theme “Ramadan Ceria – Creating a Beautiful Ramadan with Noble Character”, PRPP organized an Islamic Quiz Competition on Sunday morning (March 23, 2025), held at the Jenu Sub-district Hall, Tuban Regency.

The event was attended by 14 teams from 6 Quranic Education Parks (Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an / TPQ) located around the Grass Root Refinery (GRR) Tuban Project area.

Yuli Witantra, Sr. CSR Officer of PRPP, stated that the activity was part of PRPP’s commitment to developing community education by promoting educational activities, including religious-themed competitions like this one.

“We feel responsible for the potential social impacts that may arise from industrialization coming to Tuban Regency. Therefore, besides enhancing people’s skills and capabilities, it is very important for the younger generation to strengthen themselves by upholding Islamic values. We hope that Tuban’s young generation will become professional Muslims who can face global challenges while maintaining noble Islamic character,” said Yuli during her opening remarks.

Jenu Sub-district Head, Yoeliani Endang Poerwati, expressed her appreciation to PRPP for enlivening the month of Ramadan 1446 H with positive activities focused on Islamic education in her region. She specifically highlighted the important role of parents in equipping their children with the best education to face future challenges.

“I would like to thank the parents, especially the mothers, who took the time to accompany their children to this event. As we all know, children are a trust from God, and parents must provide them with the best education. The presence of these mothers today is a reflection of that commitment,” she added.

The winner of the TKA (early childhood) category of the quiz competition was TPQ Darunna’im, while the TPA (older children) category was won by TPQ Shohiburrohmah. In addition to the Islamic Quiz Competition, PRPP also held a Qur’an Recitation (Tahfidz) Competition on the previous day, Saturday (March 22, 2025), with 35 participants from various TPQs around the GRR Tuban Project area in Jenu District.

The event was also supported by the Pertiwi PRPP (Pertamina’s Women Community: Resilient, Inspirational, Dignified, and Independent Women), represented this time by Esti Wulandari, PRPP’s Legal Counsel Manager, along with the Pertiwi team.

Consistently Spreading Kindness During Ramadan Through Social Assistance

Aside from educational activities, as in previous years, PRPP also organized social assistance in the form of staple food packages for more than 800 underprivileged households living in six villages surrounding the GRR Tuban Project area: Wadung, Sumurgeneng, Mentoso, Rawasan, Kaliuntu, and Beji.

This activity took place from Tuesday (March 18, 2025) to Thursday (March 20, 2025), with distribution carried out door-to-door by the PRPP team and the GRR Tuban Early Work team, accompanied by local village officials.

Yuli expressed hope that the company’s small contribution could help meet the community’s basic needs during this Ramadan.

“Alhamdulillah, in the midst of our efforts to finalize the execution approval of the GRR Tuban Project, we are still able to contribute to the community through this food aid. Hopefully, with the spirit and blessings of Ramadan, this assistance can benefit the recipients and give us the strength to ensure the successful execution of the GRR Tuban Project. The successful implementation of this project will bring even greater benefits to the surrounding communities and Tuban Regency in general,” explained Yuli.

This social program has been consistently carried out by the company since 2021 and is expected to continue in the coming years.

The 2025 Ramadan Ceria Program is also part of PRPP’s commitment to implementing sustainable business practices in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
